Atwater Tokyo-Yokohama flight cards, each showing Atwater (one a studio photograph, the other the aviator at the wheel) with printed signature and his Curtiss Hydro-Aeroplane, with commemorative cancel in brown reading "Japanese Aerial Post/45.6—2"; cards split-back and unaddressed/unfranked, Mint, scarce, especially this nice,

William B. Atwater was one of the first licensed pilots in the US, and set early speed and endurance records. These cards are from his trip around the world, during which he made from 200 to 250 flights. His first flight between Tokyo and Yokohama, on June 1, was a success, but he was unable to fly on June 2 due to mechanical failure.
