2202 cover Q5 imageParcel Post, 1913, 5¢ Mail Train & 1¢ Post Office Clerk, Unique Hammelman Combination First Day Cover (Scott Q5, Q1), in conjunction with a 1¢ Parcel Post (also First Day) and 10¢ Registry (#F1), all tied by two strikes of silent "Washington/D.C." double-oval cancel on H[enry] Hammelman cover (return address on backflap); appropriate July 1, 1913 Registry postmarks on reverse and faint Registry boxed handstamp at far left front, the #F1 further tied by violet "O.D.L.Record/No. JUL 1 1913" boxed receiver handstamp; adding to the allure, all this is on an Eagle design Patriotic Cover; fancily addressed to one of Hammelman's colleagues at the Dead Letter Office, Extremely Fine. A unique Patriotic combination Parcel Post First Day—with great eye appeal—from Hammelman's first outing as a cover servicer, with 1986 P.F. certificate.

Only 5 known mint entires: 1) ex Summers & Saddleback (last sold 2007); 2) ex Scarsdale (last sold 2013), 3) ex-Whitington & "Wanamaker" (last sold 2016) and one more that has not been seen in at least 25 years. This, then, is the first example to appear at auction since 2016, with 2009 P.F. certificate.

Feb. 21" (1861) circular datestamp, full to large margins all around; deep thin and tiny pinhole, Extremely Fine appearance of this very scarce stamps with only. Six known examples of this issue (all used, 5 off cover & 1 on cover) plus the unique used "CNETS" error and the unique used 5¢ black on yellow entire (#137XU1), ex Judge Philbrick, Sir William Avery, Ferrary, Lapham, Moody, Briggs and Gorham, with 1996 C.S.A. certificate and Trish Kaufman dealer display page.

(obtained by Jack E. Molesworth after the 1985 Rarities sale, stating "genuine, small repairs and a tear") and 2023 P.S.E. (stating "genuine, unused, no gum, with small faults)".

Only five recorded in Frank Crown's online census (https://www.civilwarphilatelicsociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Res-Cen-VIC-TX-v1-2-210112.pdf), 1 with o.g., 2 with part o.g., and 2 without gum (including this stamp). There is also a photo in the possession of the PF of a left margin uncanceled stamp from the Steves collection that hasn't been seen in years.
