Get it while you can. 16 examples -- a mere 6 pairs (1 paste up and 1 in the Miller collection) and 4 singles -- are known to exist, and only 14 examples are available to the philatelic market, ex Cromwell (1957 auction), signed Molesworth, with copies of 1962 (noting this was the left pair from a strip of 4), 1993 & 2009 P.F. certificates, and 2019 P.S.E. certificates for pair and single (right stamp).
Scott $110,000.

In 1911, the Post Office Department created this issue specifically for the Bell Pharmaceutical Company, who used it to send samples of their products to physicians. Examples with original gum are extremely rare today because the stamps were not publicly issued, most of the stamps were used, and contemporary philatelists were not aware of their existence.

2246 O 389 image1911, 3¢ deep violet, type I, S.L. watermark, the "Orangeburg" coil, perf. 12 vertically (Scott 389), usual neat wavy-line machine cancel, deep shade on bright white paper; "defects" which likely resulted from their use on oversized envelopes, Fine appearing example of the scarce "Orangeburg" coil, with 1976 P.F. certificate.
Scott $9,000.

In 1911, the Post Office Department created this issue specifically for the Bell Pharmaceutical Company, who used it to send samples of their products to physicians. Due to the quantity of mail, they were put through the first-class cancelling machine at Orangeburg, New York and mailed via third-class. Given that the samples were not flat, they often suffered from a rough pass through the machine, often causing tears or creases. They are rare today because a) they were not publicly issued, b) they were on third class commercial mail only, c) contemporary philatelists were not aware of their existence, and d) the physicians discarded most of the mailings.

2255 O 482A image1920, 2¢ deep rose, type Ia, unwatermarked, imperf. (Scott 482A), typical wavy line machine cancel, lovely fresh color on bright white paper, Schermack perforations at left, completely sound, Very Fine for this very rare issue, most survivors are either cut well into the design and/or have the Schermack perfs trimmed away on one side, 47 examples are known to exist including one pair, ex Hewitt & Hansen, with 1978, 1985 and 2004 P.F. certificates.

Unknown to contemporary collectors, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing printed and sold sheets of imperforate Type Ia stamps to the Schermack Company. As is the case with many other extremely rare 20th Century US stamps, the lack of contemporary public information leaves us with only a very small quantity of this issue.

Scott Catalogue states "both unused and used are valued with perforations just touching frameline on one side". As mentioned earlier in the descriptions of the other 20th Century U.S. rarities, these issues were distributed without an announcement, and the lack of knowledge about their existence directly caused their scarcity today. 18 are known to exist, only 8 of which have full or part gum and no perforated initials. Most were removed from envelopes and postcards including ten without gum and eight with only a small part of original gum. This removal from paper often yielded a small thin, so that today, only six unused copies are sound, ex Robert Hall, with 1963 and copy of 2008 (#260518) P.F. certificates.
