3301 cover   imageJ.N. Thompson and J.Q. Thompson straightlines in fancy frame of eagle, stars and olive branches, two strikes of each on reverse of 1855 folded letter datelined February 11 1855 (at end) and sent by J.N. Thompson from Flat Lick P.O., Claiborne Parish LA to family in Chesterfield S.C. "in haste" as he had previously sent them the wrong address for correspondence and wanted them to be aware of the error before they sent any future correspondence to him

this fancy cancel is identical to the ones used by postmasters in Mechanicsburg IN (1861) and Upper Dublin PA (1852), and similar to the one used at Kingsessing PA that were used to cancel stamps.
J.Q. Thompson (c.1830-1901) served in the Confederate Army, Very Fine strikes, ¢. Unique; this fancy cancel is identical to the ones used by postmasters in Mechanicsburg IN (1861) and Upper Dublin PA (1852). This handstamp was made for postmasters. This must have been a postmark and sent free as, just like the covers from the aforementioned towns, there are no other postal markings on covers sent from those locations.
