Greece
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
1730   imageGreece, Once-in-a-Lifetime Mint Stock, 1896-1994, Perhaps "stock" is not even the best word, as it conjures up images of packed glassines with minimal value. Certainly not the case here! Even if you took just one of each unique stamp in this inventory, it would easily surpass most Greek collections from this time period. Five glassine files loaded with #4 glassines with not only better material, but a large portion of it never hinged including the classics. And hundreds of blocks; as a matter of fact, the vast majority from 1954 on have at least one block on hand. Some of the higher value items in blocks of four include #151-52, 154 (2), 158 (2), 173 (2), 258-59, 382, 490-97, 523 (2), 525-34, 549-55, 568-73, 574-81, 582-85 (2), 587-600, 604-17, 632-38 (2), 639-48 (2), C67-70, C74-80 (2). As far as singles, get a load of this… 117-24 (4), 125 (3), 126 (2), 127-28, 159a, 160, 161 (3), 162-63, 179-83, 194-95, 196 (2), 197, 277B (3), 281 (2), 298 (4), 332-33 (2), 334 (3), 338-43 (7), 344-61 (3), 369 (5), 378, 279 (2), 380, 381, 431-36 (2), 472-81 (9), 520 (7), 521-22 (10), 535-38 (5), 543-44 (3), 545-48 (6), 556-67 (5), C1-4 (7), C5-7 (3), C8-14 (5), C15-21 (5), C22-30 (8), C38-47, C71-73. In addition to airmails, other extensive back-of-the-book in postal tax and occupation & annexation stamps. Some Scott-unlisted items, like imperfs of the Flying Hermes series and a selection of EFOs. There are also overprint varieties and inverted surcharges, as well as more familiar material, like complete booklets and souvenir sheets. All in all, absolutely enormous catalogue value. And you'll probably be able to view Haley's Comet again before seeing a lot like this come along! As with all glassine lots, should really be viewed in person, but if you're unable to make it, we have provided a few extra photos online, generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 15.2 lbs. (PDF for this Lot) (Image)
