4889 594 image1923, 1¢ Franklin, rotary press coil waste (Scott 594), part o.g., a striking example of this major rarity, with bold color on immaculate paper; one of just seven stamps known with original gum; tiny thin spot in the area of the first "S" in "STATES", Very Fine for this mint rarity, Scott value is for stamps with perforations just touching frameline on one side, one of the rarest 20th Century stamps, missing from the most complete collections, with 1971 and 2008 P.F. certificates,

Printed rotary, this stamp was perforated gauge 11 on a machine designed for flat plate printings. This production anomaly led to poor centering on the issue due to the difference between the flat and rotary plate sizes. Distributed normally to Post Offices, this variety was not reported for some time—making this one of the rarest US stamps.
