1470 OX3 imagePost Office Seal, 1917, slate violet, three (Scott OX3), on well traveled cover franked with U.S. 2¢ rose (Scott #499) tied by Philadelphia, Jan. 14, 1920, machine cancel to New York, with Hudson Term Sta, NY (Jan. 19) backstamp, two "Unclaimed/RETURNED TO SENDER" pointing hands, where it was apparently opened and resealed with 1917 U.S. Post Office Seal (Scott #OX18), then readdressed and forwarded to Cristobal, C.Z. with Jan. 28, receiver, additional straightline "JAN 29 1920" handstamps and eventually a Cristobal, Mar. 1, duplex, once more readdressed to Balboa Heights with Mar. 29, duplex backstamp; at some point, while in the Zone, it was reopened and resealed by a pair and single of the 1917 Canal Zone seal, a scarce and most interesting cover worthy of further study; numerous minor edge tears and soiling as you might expect from this voyager, still a Fine cover.
