1781 899 image1940, 1¢ Defense (Scott 899), block of 24, double paper variety from splicing together two rolls to avoid the time consuming process of re-feeding the paper into the press. These splicing varieties were intended for rejection, but this block somehow avoided detection. The stamps were spliced together before printing and gumming with scotch tape and printed and gummed over tape, o.g., never hinged, Fine to Very Fine.

1799 5036a image2017, Forever, Quilled Paper Heart Love, die cutting omitted (Scott 5036a), pane of 20 with corner plate numbers B11111, regularly issued with die-cutting, this pane missed that process, these were produced from the lower right position of the sheets, completely sound and free of any imperfection, of the several sheets reported, most had creasing, o.g., never hinged, Very Fine, with 2016 P.F. certificate.
