1382 / 114 image1869, 3¢ ultramarine (Scott 114), top plate block of 20, o.g., lightly hinged (18 stamps never hinged), the most impressive example of this rare plate block we have ever had the pleasure to offer at public auction; cut from the sheet showing portions of 10 adjacent stamps at bottom; all stamps are never hinged except positions 6 and 16 which show just a bare trace of hinging; two right stamps - Pos. 19 and 20 are interesting "split grill" varieties; how this fabulous plate block has survived the last 150 years is hard to imagine; a spectacular showpiece destined for a collection of distinction, Extremely Fine.
