1382 / 114 image1869, 3¢ ultramarine (Scott 114), top plate block of 20, o.g., lightly hinged (18 stamps never hinged), the most impressive example of this rare plate block we have ever had the pleasure to offer at public auction; cut from the sheet showing portions of 10 adjacent stamps at bottom; all stamps are never hinged except positions 6 and 16 which show just a bare trace of hinging; two right stamps - Pos. 19 and 20 are interesting "split grill" varieties; how this fabulous plate block has survived the last 150 years is hard to imagine; a spectacular showpiece destined for a collection of distinction, Extremely Fine.

1392 P 230P3//245P3 image1893, Columbians, 1¢ to $5, plate proofs on India (Scott 230P3//245P3), 15 different blocks of 4, unbelievably fresh group of 15 different proof blocks on India paper, missing only the 2 cent value for completeness; two blocks - #237 and 238 are both attractive right sheet margin blocks with full imprints in the selvage; the "key" value in the set, the $5 block completely sound and is the unique lower right corner margin block with double DD's in the selvage; Columbian proofs in blocks are scarce, and India proofs are far scarcer than card proofs; a rare opportunity; several with minor paper wrinkles; a few have thin spots typically normally found on this fragile India paper including 233, 242-244 - one stamp on each block, otherwise Extremely Fine.
