9023   imageNew South Wales, 1894 Telegrasph Form cut-out used for postage, 6d rose pink, tied by Sydney c.d.s., Aug 28, 1894 and "N.S.W." triple oval (no other markings) on locally addressed cover to prominent local collector, J.F. Cole, Very Fine.
Suggested Bid $120

Postal Regulations did not specifically preclude the use of these cut-outstanding on ordinary mail. Soon after Mr. Cole, and perhaps others made used of this "loophole" in the regulations, language was put into place stating that cut-out "impressed stamps…may not be used for prepayment of postage on other articles".

This cover was illustrated in an article by Derek Brennan in the Postal Stationery Society of Australia's
Postal Stationery Collector of May 2001. (Image)
