Yellow Express Carriers commenced business in 1926, and the parcels delivery business was established in 1929. Having survived the Great Depression, their Melbourne fleet had grown to 200 vehicles by 1933. In 1946 they introduced mechanical parcel sorting equipment at their Sydney site, and in 1947 they successfully moved the entire Kilmore Racecourse grandstand from the eastern side of the ground to the western side without dismantling it!
