1105 F imageBAHAWALPUR: Black/buff 'Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department/DEFENCE SAVING/CARD' completed (10r value) with 'SAVE FOR/INDIA'S/DEFENCE' stamps on Pink Paper 4a carmine x2, 8a ultramarine x3 & 1r violet x8 including a pair all tied by 'KHANPUR/ TEL /28APR43/BAHAWALPUR' telegraphs cds, the card endorsed "Cancelled" in red, small spike-hole & corner damage both well clear of the stamps. [The only such card we have seen: usage in Bahawalpur must be rare. Text on the face states these were the only denominations issued]

1120 = imagePOSTAL HISTORY: 1965 commercial piece from a parcel with remarkable & irregular franking of Postal Charges 9d & 3/- two strips of 3 plus 10/- Bird used in lieu of Postage Due all tied by Samarai cds of 11AU65. 3/- was the highest denomination in the Postal Charges set: it appears that in making up the amount due of £1/4/9d, the 3/- stock was heavily depleted requiring the Postage 10/- to be used for that purpose.
