'PETERSHAM/15DE16/N.S.W' cds cancels, a couple of minor aging marks. It appears that the sender has paid double 1d per 2ozs foreign printed matter rate without taking into account the ½d stamp indicium. (Image1) (Image2)

1914-38 KGV Sideface ½d green without 'NEWSPAPER ONLY' Heading ACSC W3, to England with Queenscliff, Vic 1917 cds cancel with the
additional franking affixed at lower-right apparently having fallen off, endorsed "Above 24oz, 13/120" at upper-left and Melbourne 'T'-in-oval cachet endorsed "C/110" on the face, on arrival British '1/- I.S/R' handstamp applied and Postage Dues 2d
two strips of 3 affixed tied by 'HASTINGS' cds cancels, minor faults & light aging marks. The British Empire (non NZ/Pacific destinations) printed matter rate was 1d per 4oz, so the item required 7d postage; it appears ½d credit was given for the
missing franking, and the item taxed as 6d underpaid. (Image1) (Image2)

1914-38 KGV Sideface ½d green + ½d green Doubleton with 'NEWSPAPER/ONLY' Type 1 (Large Seriffed Letters in Two Lines) Handstamp in
Blue-Green ACSC W8(1), used to the USA with KGV ½d green added tied by Sydney '11JA21' cds cancels, a couple of minor blemishes, under-catalogued at $100. Very scarce: these handstamps were applied by the Post Office as a provisional measure after
the decision was made to limit the use of wrappers to newspapers only, and before wrappers with the 'NEWSPAPER ONLY' headings were issued. The ACSC states that the Type 1 Handstamp was used at Melbourne, so it is unusual to see this example used from
Sydney. The rate was 1½d per 4ozs to the USA (an exception to the normal foreign rate of 1½d per 2ozs). (Image1) (Image2)
