2272 PSE image1941 (Feb 13) 1½d Postal Card Sydney to England uprated with ½d 5d 1/- & 1/4d for the trans-Pacific 'Clipper' Route via New Zealand & America, redirected on arrival to Lincolnshire, unusually for a postcard with 'PASSED BY CENSOR/S 360' cachet on the reverse minor corner bend otherwise superb. A beautiful 5-colour franking. The postcard rate was 2/11d, being half the letter rate of 5/10d. Covers at that rate are common but postcards are rare. The lengthy social message in tiny script states: "...It said over the ABC that [one of the airmen] piloted those two planes stuck together [! Then, re Tobruk]...wasn't it typical when the Aussies hauled down the Italian flag &...hoisted a digger's felt hat...Australia is preparing well to meet any situation..."
