From the Second Printing, with 'THREE PENCE' in deep olive: see ACSC footnote #2. The ACSC states that "about one dozen used examples [and no mint] are known...all are cancelled at Kadina". However, Gary Diffen recorded only five singles and a pair. More attractive than the 'Chartwell' example, that sold for £440.

This famous error occurred on [Pos 19; R2/9] in the sheet. The Post Office stated that some 50 examples had been sold before the error was noted. The offending unit was then removed from the remaining sheets, which were issued with [Pos 19] blank & a normal single lightly tacked in the margin! The intercepted errors were officially incinerated. The ACSC states "it is much rarer used than mint, with probably less than 10 examples known". Gary Diffen recorded 12 used examples: his very lightly cancelled stamp sold for £1200. William Frazer's example sold for £2520. Jeff Harris' stamp sold for $2795, & another example sold at our auction of 10.4.2010 for $2990. The two examples in the 'Yarramundi' Collection sold for $4790 and an extraordinary $8385 respectively.
