A faulty impression 2.25mm low and 0.2mm to the right, with duplication of both lateral and upper frame lines, some lines of NEW ZEALAND. There is doubling of the right shoulder line and part of the sash and circle to the right of POSTAGE, similar to the doubling seen in Row 16, No. 3. Spots of color are present in the center of the Queen's forehead, the left cheek, and in the letters POSTAGE and SIX PENCE, as well as in the lower gutter.

Horizontal pair, just clear to large margins including part of adjacent stamp at top, tied by two clear strikes of numeral "16" barred ovals, matching "Lyttelton, New-Zealand, JY 6 1861" origin backstamp on part folded cover to Staffordshire, England, endorsed "per "Prince Alfred" via Marseilles" at top, reverse with Higham Ferrers (9.16) arrival cds; reduced at bottom with back flap removed and small repair, a Very Fine use. This letter was carried per "Northam" that departed Sydney July 27th to Marseilles arriving Sep. 13th, then to Southampton arriving Sep. 19th. Prior to September 1863, the rate was the standard 6d per ½oz plus 3d per ¼oz for the cross-France portion, so this item weighed less than ½oz. From 14/3/1860, the P&O route was varied to Sydney-Melbourne-Albany-Galle.
