Five 1c Centenarios tied on cover by San Angel duplexes, sent 10 Sept 1914 to Hermosillo, Sonora was having its own civil war at the time and to indicate the postage was accepted the handstamp "MEXICO" was applied twice, Very Fine, the mark is rare and only used at Hermosillo for a brief period.

2160 o      imageMexico, Puebla Bars & X's On Large Numeral Stamps - Railroad Usage. These stamps (over 60, mostly brown lilac 10c large numeral) are the only known ones with these cancels, in collaboration with Karl Schimmer the railroad route was plotted to show that these were canceled, apparently in conjunction with the railroad, some of these cancels appear with Puebla District town cancels for Amozoc, Cholula, Huexotzingo, Puebla, San Juan de los Llanos, San Martin Texmelucan, Tecali, Tehuacan, Tepeji de la Seda, Teteles, Tezuitlan, Zacapoaxtla, and the railroad itself, Ferrocarril Mexicano Ramal-Puebla Conductor No. 1, and 2; and Mexico, D. F., reference copy of the October 2001 article published in Mexicana is included with the lot, this archive was previously owned by a Puebla lawyer.
