This name is given to a land section in the vicinity of Ewa, above Pearl Lagoon near where Waipahu was situated. This mark is noted as a cancel on a postal card originating at Waipahu in June, 1897. The Waipahu postmark use began in July, 1897 so it is possible this mark was a postmark.

Complete purple straightline handstamp on reverse of cover bearing 5¢ blue (82) Honolulu, H.I., Mar 19, 1900" duplex postmark tied by "to Berlin, Germany, reverse with German transits, upper left and lower right with fumigated clips from the 1899-1900 bubonic plague epidemic, Very Fine.
Estimate; $300 - 400.

The bubonic plague has spread from Hong Kong to Hawaii in the latter part of 1899 and quickly broke out in Chinatown in Honolulu. Because of the outbreak, fumigation was required on all mail from December of 1899 until April 30, 1900.
