Lot 2398 - 1921-33 KGV $500 purple & orange-brown 'POSTAGE & REVENUE', wmk script. VF MLH, with fresh original gum, insignificant traces of aging in left margin, nice bright pastel colors as issued. SG 240d cat £75,000. Great rarity in genuine mint condition as obviously $500 was serious money at the time, so hardly any collectors could afford to obtain a mint example for their collections. Almost all these stamp were used fiscally on documents etc. One of the key mint British Empire ultra high denom....Estimate AU$70,000 Currently AU$ 50,000

Worldwide Public Auction - August 18, 2022

Auction 375 has 3,512 lots, catering for all types of collectors & dealers - from bulk accumulations and intact collections to desirable single items. This auction offers a huge range of material, with special emphasis on lotting stamps to cater for collectors with varying types of interests and budgets. Items range from $30 to $80,000 so there's something for everybody. This auction offers strong representation of Australia & Colonies, strong British Empire material of all areas & periods, as well as General Foreign including small and large collections. There are over 200 lots of Australian Collections (Lots 43 -270) and over 300 lots of World collections (Lots 271-624).

Following on there is almost 1000 lots of Australia which consist of singles, sets and covers including Australian colonies (Lots 652-1613). The Australian lots cover all periods, from the Kangaroo issues up to Decimal and contains numerous number of mint & used £1 & £2 top values. This auction includes a Small Multi Watermark £2 Black & rose, varieties 'colour spot on map north of Bight' & 'white spot below S of POSTAGE' (position R4). VF fresh top marginal, stamp MUH, pristine never hinged original gum. SG114(var) cat £4500 for M, should be at least double, £9000 MUH, plus premium for variety. ACSC 57A(D)q cat $22,000. Very rare MUH (Lot 746).

There are almost 1,900 lots of World stamps, covers and single country collections (Lots 1614 - 3512). Numerous other rarities in the British Empire, European, The Americas and Asia sections.
