Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3089 - January 26, 2022

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 634 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are about (108) U.S. lots, with several extraordinary Classic issues including some scarce items. A full-margined no.1 is offered and very nice copies of no. 3 and no. 4. Also, there are a few Banknotes and a NH copy of the 6 cent Columbian (no. 235); a few (about 16) Exposition and 1890's Regular issues. Also, about (35) lots of Washington Franklins and late1920's issues. You can also find a nice variety of 1930 to Date with (14) Graded issues with PSE certificates.
  • COVERS, There are (43) Cover lots - (4) Commercial, and (29) First Day Covers that include several hand-painted items and some seldom offered cachet artists.

  • MISC. ITEMS, Includes a couple Literature items,some Cinderellas, decorated tin boxes, historical ceremony programs, etc.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (38) lots of Airmails and Back of Book issues that includes several Private Vending lots (8), one being a 2¢ Carmine, Type II, Horizontal Strip of 4 with Schermack Type III Private Perfs (nice).

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (20) Lots of EFO's are offered. There are several mis-perfs, plate flaw, omitted and mis-aligned colors, Interesting lots.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, includes (83) lots from a variety of countries. Special items include a couple rarer Great Britain no. 1's: "1a-1p Intense Black" and "1b-Gray Black", also a NH set of early Berlin definitive stamps and nice collections from Greece, the Falklands, several nice sets from Canada and a great collection of Souvenir Sheets and Mint Sheets from Czechoslovakia. There are some must see items here for the Foreign collector!

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (18) Autograph lots, with covers signed by John Glenn, Werner Von Braun (rockets), James Van Allen (radiation belt), Edward Teller (atomic bomb) and other notable scientific figures. Some are in the Space Section, which has (18) must see lots for space science collector.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (323) lots, which includes (8) Federal Duck Collections and several License lots and related items. An extensive group of Federal, State, Canadian and Conservation issues on FDC is included (38), with a large number of Milford hand-painted States. There are (6) Junior Duck stamp lots, with one being a matched set of Plate Blocks of 4 very nicely centered, and (26) Plate Number Singles. There are (111) Federal lots, (4) Mini-sheets, (12) Errors, and (4) beautiful Remarques. For the Press sheet collector, we have a selection of (8) lots of various configurations with an RW73 cross-gutter Block of 16 and a Matched set of Plate Blocks of 6 (4). Also, we have (34) Artist Signed Federal and State stamps, good selection to fill out this part of your collection. There are a variety of State duck stamps (31), Governor's Editions (9), and a couple Conservation and Fishing. Also included, are (10) lots of Canada and Provinces Souvenir Sheets, a nice variety. To finish the sale, you will find (3) Federal Duck Prints, that includes an RW13 by artist Bob Hines; (2) Conservation prints and (6) Prints/Art Work by Jay "Ding" Darling - several interesting items.
