Sam Houston Philatelics Sale - 3097

Internet, Mail, and Phone Auction 3097 - November 2, 2022

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on November 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains over 739 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are (135) U.S. lots with (47) lots of many nice Classics, Pictorials and Banknotes highlighted by: Lot 13 - a quite rare No. 84 2¢ Black, Type I "D" Grill; Lot 18 - the Very Thin Paper variety of the 15¢ Gray Black "F" Grill and Lot 41 - an XF NH copy of no. 211. There are also Lots 62-65 to consider, high-value Columbians (50¢ to $4.00). There are a few Exposition lots (14), with some nice Pan-American singles. There are (32) lots of Washington/Franklins and late 1920s issues. The 1930 to Date section offers (19) lots for perusal, with (8) graded, mostly XF-Superb with a couple Superb.
  • COVERS, There are about (104) Cover lots with (16) Commercial selections, including C2 on a first day of flight service cover, and a flight cover franked with C13 Graf Zeppelin Issue. There are (88) First Day Covers with an extensive run of Crosby photo cachets, plus other interesting issues of high value Priority and Express mail issues with hand-painted Pugh cachets.

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (44) total lots, with (13) Airmails and (31) other BOB issues. Interesting Airmail lots are No. 251 an XF NH copy of C1; and lots 260-62, which are plate no. blocks with combo stamp designer and engraver signatures on them.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, only (2) Lots of EFO's are offered this auction, with one being a 6¢ Waterfowl Conservation, Bottom Plate No. Pair #30351, with Red and Dark Blue Omitted Error - nice item.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, (135) lots with a nice selection of sets and singles from countries "A to V" including Argentina, Canada, the Falklands, Germany, Great Britain and a number of other countries, to include the Virgin Islands. There are (10) U.S. Collections that include a lot of Stampless covers, a few stamp lots of various sorts (plate blocks, coils, collections, souvenir sheets and panes), a Presidential Inauguration cover collection and a postmark slogan collection. Also offered are (14) Foreign and World Wide collections, that includes a very nice 1859-2010 Canadian album; and extensive collections from Mexico and the Netherlands. Good variety.

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, The Autographs this auction appear on 1930 to date postage and in the Airmail section on Plate Blocks of 4. The miscellaneous items include 1939 New York World's Fair, Golden Gate International Exposition items, and the 1964-65 New York Fair admission ticket.

  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains over (300) lots. Lots 432-38 include (7) Souvenir Cards, two with Gold numbers; there are (8) lots of old Licenses; and (26) Duck FDC's (21) Federal and (5) State. There are (5) collections of various combinations, (6) Junior Duck stamp lots; (24) Plate Number Single lots and (106) lots of Federal singles, Plate Blocks and Graded issues, and (4) Mini-Sheet lots. There are (23) Error lots with Lot 638 being several different black color shifts and the RW53a black missing. Also, we have (26) Artist Signed Federal stamps. A variety of State and Foreign duck stamps (38), including a number of Canadian Provinces issues. The Governor's Editions section has (21) lots with (7) being Hand-signed. Also, there is (1) Conservation related stamp lot. To finish the sale, we have (6) prints. One Federal print; an RW52 by artist Gerald Mobley, (3) Minnesota State Duck Prints and (2) Minnesota Turkey prints; all beautiful. Be joyful and have success in your bidding!
