Sam Houston Philatelics Sale - 3085

Mail, Phone, Internet Auction 3085 - September 8, 2021

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday September 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains over 650 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:

  • UNITED STATES, There are about (110) U.S. lots, with some scarce and rare Classics. To mention a few; no. 10 and 10A vertical pairs, sound copies of no's. 12 and 31, and no. 116 with bright color and strong grill. There are a few Banknotes (7), including NH copies of no's. 205 and 211. About (20) lots are from the 19th-20th turn of the century issues, including a nice Block of 4 of no.299 10¢ Pan-American Expo. U.S. material closes with about 30 lots of Washington/Franklins and 1920's issues, with a NH copy of no. 450 Joint Line Pair. Also included are about (30) lots of modern issues. about 1/2 are graded and includes four GEMS.
  • COVERS, There are (40) Cover lots - (16) Commercial and (24) First Day Covers, from which to choose. The commercial covers include about 1/2 dozen Classics, couple FAM-14 First Flight covers, and (3) Zeppelin items flown on the Graf Zeppelin. Also included is a lot of Congressional Free Frank covers and a couple of space themed lots, with Gemini and Apollo launch covers.

  • POSTCARDS, While only (5) lots, they are very interesting lots; one with Exposition cancels, one of Graf Zeppelin photos, one with a Hitler theme and another with Ship thematic. Great graphics!

  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains about (60) lots of Airmails and Back of Book issues. You will find (2) particulary nice Newspaper items; PR90 with intense black color and PR111 with excellent impression. color, and an APEX certificate. Also, a clean and nice 2P3 Plate Proof on India paper.

  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (17) Lots of EFO's are offered. A variety of misperfs, and color difference/misregistration are include.

  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, includes about (120) lots from a variety of countries e.g. Canada (9), Great Britain (30) including a Penny Black and no's. 3 and 4, Russia no 3; nice collections from Danish West Indies, Australia, Ghana and Mexico. Several U.S. collections are offered and a couple thematic collections, including a "Penney Black Sesquicentennial" collection. Nice variety!

  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There are (11) Autographs, including Postmaster Generals Farley, Gronousk and O'Brien; plus First Lady Grace Coolidge and Vice-President John Nance Garner. Check out the very stoic Sepia SPI of Greta Garbo and an 8x10 B&W photo signed by all four Marx brothers! Also, an interesting lot of exonumia - 1935-36 Sales Tax Tokens.

  • DUCK STAMPS AND CONSERVATION STAMPS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (260) lots, which includes Souvenir Cards, Federal and State FDC's (18). Two duck collections are offered; (30) Federal Plate Number Singles, and about (80) Federal Duck singles and Plate Blocks. Including a beautiful Plate Block of 6 of RW9; there are (10) Mini-sheets and Press Sheet pieces, including scarce RW83 and 85 pieces. Additionally, we are offering (6) gorgeous duck stamp Remarques by artist Mark Anderson, winner of RW72. There are (20) Duck Errors - a variety of misregistrations and even an RW60a - black-engraved missing! There are (38) Federal and State Artist Signed stamps ranging from RW10 to RW71 and (8) Aritst Signed state issues. A selection of (16) State Duck and Foreign issues, and (9) Governor's Edition stamps. The sale ends with a very nice selection of (24) Prints - (16) Federal and (8) State, Foreign and Conservation.
