Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on Wednesday, December 16,
2020 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains 720 lots, with material
in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers
alike, including a selection of over (60) graded items in the auction with
a number of GEM 100's. A few of the highlights include the following:
UNITED STATES, There are about (65) U.S. lots, with just a few Early
Issues that includes an attractive #98 (with faults). There are (22) lots
of Exposition and Bureau Issues (Columbian through Pan-Pacific) with a NH
#240 50¢ Columbian. The late 1890's and early 20th Century issues total
(19) lots The 1930 to Date section has (23) lots, including several SUPERB
98 and GEM 100 Graded items.
COVERS, There are (32) Cover lots; Commercial (7) and First Day Cover
lots (25); an interesting and nice selection of covers.
AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, contains (24) lots of Airmails and
Back of Book issues, which includes (12) Graded issues that are XF-SUPERB
or SUPERB.
ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (21) lots of various imperforate,
mis-perforations, color mis-registration, and includes a #C16 Winged Globe
Pane/50 with ghost plate numbers.
GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, (236) lots with a variety of countries
including: (39) Canadian lots, that are almost all nice classic issues;
(34) lots of Great Britain, mostly classic issues. Also, some sets and
singles from Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Russia and others, with a
very nice set of Netherlands 90-101 (Centenary of Dutch Independence) -
very fresh!
DUCK STAMPS AND CONSERVATION STAMPS (Federal, Junior and State)
contains about (380) lots, which includes (5) Junior Duck stamps, a nice
selection of (32) Federal Plate Number Singles, (117) Federal Ducks with
singles and plate blocks from which to choose, including (24) Graded items;
(9) Mini-sheets, with (7) graded including three GEMS and an RW73b signed
by the engraver in gold ink, (4) Press Sheet pieces with an RW72 Press
Sheet Center Top Gutter Block of (4), (25) Duck Errors, and about (70)
Federal and State Artist Signed - includes a wonderful RW16 Plate Block of
6 inscribed in the margin by Roger Preuss (deceased); a selection of (70)
State duck stamps, (23) Governor's Edition lots, and (7) Conservation and
Fishing items. The sale ends with a selection of (20) Prints; (7) Federal,
including a Maynard Reece (now deceased) 2nd Edition RW18 print, and (13)
State Duck Prints, most being First of State with very nice selection of
Illinois, Maryland and Mississippi prints. Quite a selection of prints from
which to choose!
