Frankings of US 50c (2) or 60c, each incl 1939 30c "Trans-Atlantic" air stamp DSG A852 (but all covers with m/s "By Transpacific"!). All canc "CROSSE ILE/MICH." cds (Oct 28, Nov 4, Dec 8). No sender's address shown, but verified from another cover in this correspondence. Good cond.

470 C 1946 NZ Occupation Forces in Japan 1946 ½d-1/- Peace set of 11 on long pictorial FDC Jones c46.1Pb), canc 4 fine strikes of "NEW Zealand A.P.O. 222/B"cds 1 AP 46. CDS used at Kure March-May 1946 (then Iwakuni). Self-addressed to NZ soldier at A.P.O. 222. The new stamps were specially flown to Japan by the N.Z.P.O.. Very fine. Very scarce (legitimate) used outside NZ. Ex Startup (with his write-up).

Sent from Hobart to NZ. Used on NZ troopship "Waimana", part of the "main body" of the expeditionary force. Two light vert creases. sscarce marking.

Also with US company receipt h/s dated 14 March (faster transit than today!) Small back thin on cover, otherwise very fine. Postal censorship was imposed on all mail to neutral countries as from 1 JA 1915.
