 1863 entire ex Weller's whaling station Otago Heads (Otakau). Sender Octavius Harwood, was employed at the station in 1838 &
stayed on after the closure as their Maori liaison officer & trader. He describes the whaling establishment remaining on the Otago Native Reserve. The entire to Sydney bears a 6d (SG 75) tied by DB "18" cancel. On reverse: "Port Chalmers" early

both with content notes on the face. 1) 1863 bears 6d black-brown imperf FFQ (3 margins) & London "AP 17" cds on front. Contents: finance (B of E), machine purchase & new daughter. 2) 1866 Thomas (Otago) to brother, bearing 6d red-brown p12½ FFQ
(Dunedin duplex "FE 14 66"). Thomas, founder of Dunedin, reports costs for First Church building & Inauguration of Synod of Otago etc.
