Listening to the Public auction requires Microsoft's Internet Explorer. You will be asked to install an activeX control. You will need to do that before you will be able to listen to the auction. If you have security restrictions on your computer, the active-X control may not be able to be installed automatically. Look on the information bar. There is usually a message that says something like “Click Control here to install the Active-X Control”. You will need to do that in order to listen to the auction.

If that doesn't work you may need to change your security settings to allow active-X controls to be installed. In your Internet Explorer Tools, Find Internet Options, Security Tab, Custom Level, make sure that "Automatic prompting for Active-X controls" is set to "Enable" and that Both "Download signed and unsigned Active-X Controls" are set to "Prompt".

However, if you had tried to use the audio with VISTA before and it didn't work, you will need to uninstall the old pre-VISTA program. From Internet Explorer, Tools, Manage Add-Ons, and delete the VaxBroadcastClientCAB control. This will delete the old one. Then when you try to listen again, you will be prompted to install the new one. If you get a "Can't Access Input Mike device or device is in use." error. You need to go into control panel and the sound applet. There is a recording tab at the top. You need to make sure they have a microphone device present in that tab. You may have to right click and select show disabled or hidden devices. Then if the device is disabled enable it.
