1896 LAKE LEFROY GOLDFIELD CYCLE MAIL 6d pink on slightly greenish paper with characteristic mis-aligned perforations. Despite
expanding Post Office services, Lake Lefroy, near the Kalgoorlie goldfields, remained unserviced until this local post was established in late 1896. It operated until June 1897 when the Postmaster in Perth claimed this service contravened Postal
regulations and threatened presecution. As is the case with this stamp, most known examples are defective, this being one of the finest known having much stronger colour than other examples we have seen. (Image 1)
