October 1917 usage of a 1d South Australian scenic postcard ("Carting - Far North") sent from LAMEROO (S.A.) to
Australian Prisoner of War Lance Corporal Hurtle J. Blake, 50th Battalion, A.I.F. in Camp Limburg, Germany; sent via the Australian Red Cross in London and with an oval "4th District" censorship handstamp. The message, written by the
POW's father, seeks to update the son about the family farm, the rains and the two new foals. An extremely rare usage.
L/C Hurtle Joseph Blake was repatriated in December 1918; arriving at Ripon on the 18th before his journey back to Australia. (Image
