1995 Special medal struck in silver (154g, 63mm) to celebrate the 80th birthday of Nelson Eustis; in plush case of presentation from MDM, Germany. Unique.

1868 EXPOSITION MARITIME INTERNATIONALE DU HAVRE, copper award medal (60mm, 97g) depicting the Prince Imperial and Napoleon III, the reverse engraved from the Jury for "A. BALLIN".
Auguste Ballin (1842 - 1909) was a painter who specialized in maritime subjects.

CRYSTAL PALACE PICTURE GALLERY: silver medal (63mm, 130g) made by John Piches, depicting Britannia flanked by Plenty and Learning, with Fame flying overhead; engraved verso "AWARDED BY THE CRYSTAL PALACE COY for a PICTURE "BATTLE OF LA HOGUE" by A. BALLIN of HAVRE, 1873".

Auguste Ballin was born in Boulogne in 1842. He was a pupil of Jules-Achille Noel. After the Franco-Prussian War he left France and settled in Brentford, London, where he died in 1909. He exhibited historical subjects - including the magnificent Trafalgar series - at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Painters between 1872 and 1897.

1879 SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION bronze award medal by Wyon (77mm, 222g) engraved to "A. BALLIN" for "FIRST AWARD".

Ballin exhibited four etchings at the Sydney Exhibition; they depicted ships involved in the Battle of Trafalgar.

AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NEW SOUTH WALES bronze medal by Hardy Brothers, (50mm, 63g) engraved verso "AWARDED SILVESTER BROTHERS for GOOSE. 1897"; together with a ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY OF NEW SOUTH WALES silver medal by W.J. Amor (50mm, 63g) engraved verso "Awarded SILVESTER BROTHERS for BEEF SAUSAGES. 1897". (2).

1934 VICTORIAN CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS medal in silver (64mm, 104g) designed by G. Rayner Hoff; in case of issue. Extremely rare in silver.

Hoff (1894 1937), is best remembered for this controversial medal, symbolising the wool industry with the skull of a sheep. Victorian Premier, Stanley Argyle was furious with the design, saying 'I have no time for it. I would not have it on my mind. In fact, I seriously wonder whether it is not a big leg-pull on Victoria, as the artist is a New South Welshman'. The obverse illustrates a tower of the State Electricity Commission's transmission line from Yallourn to Yarraville.

VICTORIA 1934 CENTENARY AGRICULTURAL SHOW medal, bronze, uninscribed.

A group, including two 1914-18 British War Medals, a 1941-5 Burma Star, a 1939 German medal, various English County military hat badges, a 1964 Malawi Independence medal, a Rhodesia 1965 Independence silver medal, etc. (Total: 17 items).
