This year-dated New York City datestamp is recorded used from July 11 to 25, 1853. It is thought by some to be connected to the 1853 Crystal Palace Exhibition. Ashbrook reported only six examples of this New York "1853" cds cancel on the 1¢ issue. (Image1)
