New Zealand 1902-07 1s orange-red "Kea and Kaka" ERROR WATERMARK 12b (INVERTED), vertical pair neatly cancelled Palmerston North circular date stamps, SG315ba.
An exceptional quality used pair and very rare multiple of this "abnormal" printing, on the same watermarked paper used for later issues of the Queen Victoria 'sideface' issue.
The Kea and Kaka are both endangered and are the world’s only alpine parrots. Kea are considered one of the most intelligent birds. They have been known to turn on water taps, set off stoat straps to get the eggs. The smaller Kaka are olive-brown in colour. They are nocturnal and very rarely seen.

Pitcairn Islands 1925 stampless cover to Alleton, Mass., U.S.A., Washburn correspondence, with fine (slightly doubled) 'POSTED IN PITCAIRN ISLAND/1924 NO STAMPS AVAILABLE' large cachet in black (as type IV), with the year deleted in black M/S, SGC9.

Typical slight cover faults but a rare and highly unusual 'late' use of this cachet (clearly after 1/1/25 !). The arrangement of letters being sent without postage stamps was ended in 1926.
A very interesting and philatelically important piece of early postal history from the Pitcairn Islands.
The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £2,500+.
The mail service from the Pitcairn Islands was irregular because it depended on passing ships and mail from the island was often sent via Tahiti.
In 1920, a regular mail service was introduced. As there were no stamps available, letters were allowed free postage as long as they carried a cachet, or manuscript endorsement, indicating their origin.

Pitcairn Islands 1967 Decimal currency ½c on ½d, ERROR deep brown omitted, SG69a.
A pristine unmounted mint example with full original gum.
A rare and sought after error with the missing brown colour resulting in some of the people on the boat being omitted.
This stamp commemorated the Pitcairn Islands’ transition to decimal currency, featuring a striking maritime design of a Pitcairn Island longboat ferrying locals across turquoise seas. This encapsulated a vital symbol of island life and community connection.
This is a celebrated missing colour error, where the deep brown ink used to print the row of seated figures on the longboat was completely omitted during printing.
The result is a dramatic visual void where people should be, giving the boat a ghostly, deserted appearance. This key colour omission creates a highly noticeable and collectable visual error.
Accompanied with normal stamp for comparison and display purposes.
Fewer than 60 examples are believed to exist in any condition. A significant proportion show minor handling defects, making premium-quality unmounted mint examples particularly scarce.
Stanley Gibbons catalogue value: £1,400.
