Pierron records only 10 examples. Previously listed in the Stanley Gibbons catalogue (2016 edition) at a value of £4,600 prior to their adoption of a progressive policy of slashing the prices of modern British stamp errors since then. In our view, the current catalogue value of £1,000, representing a fall in value of 78% makes a mockery of the rarity and desirability of this famous modern British imperforate stamp error.

A scarce QEII imperforate error. Pierron records only 10 mint pairs in existence. This exceptionally rare modern British stamp error was previously valued in the Stanley Gibbons catalogue at a price of £4,750. Astonishingly, they reduced this price in the most recent edition to £850, which we believe makes this error a remarkable bargain for such a rare philatelic item.

£1600.00

Hong Kong 1904-06 $10 slate and orange/blue, watermark MCA, chalk-surfaced paper, reduced margin at left, SG90b.

A fine unmounted mint example with full original gum. The stamp shows some characteristic traces of rubbing and frame off-setting but, nevertheless, is far above average for this key stamp rarity.

These definitive stamps issued during the reign of King Edward VII are commonly referred to as the "bald man's definitives" or, more simply, "the baldies" by local stamp collectors.

The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £2,000.

Hong Kong 1903 set of 15 to $10 slate and orange/blue, watermark CA, SG62/76.

Brilliant quality with original gum. Exceptionally fresh, with only the barest traces of hingeing. This has the appearance of a 'new issue' set which has never been separated.

A rare opportunity to acquire this iconic set of King Edward VII stamps in such exceptional quality.

The combination of English and Chinese language on the stamps demonstrated the attempts of the colonial authorities to communicate across both cultures at a time when Hong Kong was a vital trade hub.

The highest value stamp in the set, the $10 slate and orange/blue, was used on parcel and telegraph mai. Mint condition examples are prized as extremely rare.

Stanley Gibbons catalogue value: £3,000.

Typical small cover faults, but the stamp and postmarks superb. Certainly one of the finest covers we have seen with this stamp, and an extreme rarity in this quality. Ireland 1922-23 10s dull grey-blue "Seahorse", type 5 Thom overprint in blue-black, right marginal horizontal pair, right stamp (R7/4) showing variety 'Accent reversed', SG66b.

An exceptionally fresh and well-centred unmounted mint positional pair, with full original gum.

A superb example of this key Irish rarity, especially desirable in this se-tenant form.

Accompanied with a MacDonnell Whyte certificate of authenticity (1985).

The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £4,725+.

The Irish War of Independence from 1919 to 1921, resulted in the Anglo-Irish Treaty of December 1921. The treaty provided for the partition of Ireland and the creation of an autonomous Irish Free State, within one year, which would politically be a dominion within the British Commonwealth of Nations. British stamps were overprinted with "Irish Free State" in gaelic.

Such was the success and popularity of the famous Seahorses stamp issue in Great Britain that it was overprinted and used in other countries in the British Empire including Morocco, Offices in the Turkish Empire, Bechuanaland and Ireland. The stamp is considered a miniature piece of propaganda in response to the German threat posed to Britain at sea on the eve of World War I. The Seahorses boldly claimed Britain’s naval domination and reputation of being "ruler of the seas".
