A brilliant quality unmounted mint block with full original gum. The upper right stamp has a trivial gum bend but of quite astounding quality. an extremely scarce block as only 100 sheets were originally printed. The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £440+. Niue became a British Protectorate on 20 April 1900 and was transferred to New Zealand control on 11 June 1901. There was considerable local resentment to attempts to incorporate Niue into the Cook Islands which resulted in the Island being recognised as a separate New Zealand dependency from 1902. (Image)

A fine used example, neatly cancelled by part circular date stamp. Ragged perforations at top, which is fairly common for this issue, but spectacular quality nonetheless. Very rare error as only one sheet originally existed with much fewer surviving examples. Used examples are scarcer than mint. One of the classic pictorial stamps from North Borneo, which are revered amongst collectors of the British Commonwealth & Empire. This stamp depicts Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Borneo. Brilliant quality, unmounted mint with full original gum. Attractive and very fine pictorial stamps. The 4c depicts Mount Kinabalu and the 8c a typical Borneo scene. The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £260+. Japanese forces first landed in North Borneo on 15 December 1941. By 19 January 1942, the whole of North Borneo had been occupied. A fine used strip of three, cancelled to order with neat part ovals of bars. Left stamp with thin, but still a very fine quality piece. Most importantly, the error catalogued at £650 as a single, is in fine condition. These North Borneo stamps were issued with colour change and overprinted "LABUAN". Very scarce and desirable in this se-tenant form. A highly visual piece with a most remarkable overprint error. Royal Philatelic Society certificate No. 19,126 (not present). A very fine well-centred mint example with original gum. A very scarce variety, found only on the 1933 third printing. The King George V stamps of Nyasaland are particularly interesting to collectors because of the wide range of constant printing plate flaws which exist. Great Britain declared ‘British Central Africa’ a protectorate in 1891 and started to issue postage stamps. In 1908, the Protectorate was renamed ‘Nyasaland’, and in 1953 it joined the postal territory of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. Stamps were issued from Nyasaland again In 1963 when it became an autonomous area, followed by Independence (as ‘Malaw^i’) on 6 July 1964. (Image)
