123 CVR   image1940 (May 29), "Salved from the Sea", wreck mail cover front to England, postmarked Montreal, to Gomshall, Guildford, Surrey, struck with bold violet straight-line "SALVED FROM THE SEA", likely from a merchant ship sunk by enemy action in the north Atlantic, expected condition for such disaster mail, this particular cachet identified by Hawkins as originating on Canadian mail from Toronto to Montreal postmarked between May 25 and 29, or on mail forwarded from Asia via Vancouver. 124 CVR   image1941, Armstrong, Ontario plane crash recovered cover, from the February 6,1941 Trans-Canada Airlines flight from Montréal to Winnipeg which crashed on approach to Armstrong Airport, the cover mailed at Toronto (5 Feb) and addressed to Calgary, bearing a few oil stains but showing no postal crash markings, accompanied by a note of provenance, an oversize cover in better than average condition for crash mail. 134 317 image1952, 4c Red Cross Centenary, in-depth collection of varieties, comprising mint never hinged singles and multiples through to used on cover, most items showing previously documented printing varieties including much of the fly-specking type, with the owner’s careful attention evident throughout, highlights include 50 mostly commercial covers of which 25 bear varieties, a block of four with red ink smear from the printing process, and another stamp showing a “pawnbroker”-style set of dots in the design margin, accompanied by documentation of varieties as published in BNA Topics and by noted collectors of the time, together with correspondence from the Post Office Department answering questions posed by the original collector, the strength of the collection being a list compiled by the researcher of 134 different varieties, represented here by 120 glassines each holding the stamp and a photo showing the variety, an exceptional specialist holding sure to provide a keen collector or potential exhibitor many hours of study; ex Hans Reiche. 138 nh   image1967 (circa), "Baby Sisters" experimental stamps, comprising three singles in shades of red brown, dark brown, and black, tête-bêche pairs in red brown and dark brown, coil strips of five in red brown and black, and a "booklet pane" of ten in red brown, never hinged, either gummed or ungummed as produced, an attractive group of these charming experimental stamps.

In 1967, British American Bank Note Company was awarded the contract to print the Centennial issue booklets using a new printing machine, a Goebel press, which could print booklets of multi-coloured stamps in one operation. They tested the new press by printing test booklets using a design referred to as the "Baby Sisters". (Image 1) (Image 2)
