R.M.S.P. sailing,' carried aboard the Asia, franked at the British Packet rate by 1852–57 10d blue Cartier, with mostly good to enormous margins, just touching at foot but showing portion of adjoining stamp at right, tied by a superb large Cobourg c.d.s. which leaves the portrait virtually clear, with red PAID arrival c.d.s. (14 Oct) alongside and Kingston (28 Sep) backstamp, two vertical filing folds clear of stamp, scarce in this quality and desirable with the 10d cancelled by c.d.s, a most attractive cover. 5 CVR 8 image1858 (March 1), ½d deep rose horizontal strip of six on folded cover from Newboro to Ottawa, paying the 3d single letter rate, the strip with margins close to large except just touched at left of stamp 1 and slightly in on stamp 4, tied by three crisp target cancels with Newboro despatch c.d.s. at lower left and backstamped with City of Ottawa / U.C. arrival c.d.s. (3 Mar), a couple of unobtrusive filing folds affecting stamps 1 and 5, yet an important and extremely rare showpiece of exceptionl visual appeal, one of only twelve covers recorded with this franking, of which just two bear intact strips of six; ex Nickle (Firby Auctions, 29 Oct 1988, lot 388), de Volpi, and Jarrett.

7 CVR 13a image1859 (June 4), Gananoque to Brockville, double letter rate cover franked with 1858–59 6d grey-violet Consort, perforated 11¾, tied by two overlapping target cancels with despatch c.d.s. below and Brockville arrival backstamp, slight faults including a tear at upper left sensibly reinforced, nevertheless a very rare and desirable usage of this short-lived issue, issued in January 1859 and supplanted within just six months by the decimal ‘Cents’ issue; with 2004 BPA certificate.
