For decades, this collector threw on-paper stamps in this box and never got around to sorting and washing them. Some larger pieces hold multiple copies of the same stamp. A good proportion seem to be from Canada but we saw a huge variety of countries including from Africa, Latin America and Asia. Quite clean.

2044 O/og Worldwide imageWorldwide Old Time Accumulation in a Heavy Banker's Box, mostly on-paper and sorted by country or sets in more than 80 envelopes of various sizes. This was collected before the 1930s and has not been disturbed since. We saw envelopes for most European countries but also for China (mostly Junk and Rice Reaping types), Mexico, Philippines, Belgian Congo, including 2 unused postal cards etc. Some envelopes were filled with stamps from a variety of countries. We could not check every envelope so many more finds are certain. Australia and Germany were lotted separately. This lot also includes an 80-page stockbook full of on and off-paper stamps and labels from various countries as well as two old-time stamp albums: Schaubek's Postage Stamp Album, in English, published about 1898 with some stamps and the Rapkin's Triumph Stamp Album from circa 1930. A treasure trove to be inspected. Overall fine, faults to be expected in such an old lot. (Scan 2) (All Scans)

2045 O/og Worldwide imageWorldwide Mint and Used Collection in 3-Volume New Ideal Postage Stamp Albums, this deluxe album published in 1937 has been kept in pristine condition and is still stored in its original cartons. Even the flimsy glassines between each page are in as new condition. Thousands of stamps make up this old time mint and used collection to which nothing has been added but also, in a very unusual fashion for such an old collection, nothing seems to have been taken out. We thus found many stamps in the $50-$100 cv range and a few that are even worth more. Among the more populated countries, we noted Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. We also noted British Guiana #35 (CV $850, used with thins), Cape of Good Hope #19a used (CV $250), Malaya #14 used (CV $200). Generally F-VF, with a few faults noted in the earlier material. See scans for a sample, well worth viewing. This mint and used collection of thousands of stamps has been in safe storage since the passing of its owner in 1960. No stamp in it has been issued later than the early 1930s. Most countries of the world are represented with an interesting assortment. We noted China, Greece Hermes Heads, Hong Kong, Rhodesia, Thailand, Bavaria among others.
