1143 CVR 24, 39 image1872 2c Large Queen and 6c Small Queen Combination Double Weight Registered Cover, mailed from Ottawa on APR.16.1872 to Toronto, and franked with a 2c LQ plus a 6c yellow brown Small Queen (first printing, perforated 11.85, faults at bottom), both tied to cover by neat fancy cork cancels (Lacelle 1527). A nice combination franking, very fine. Ex. Richardson and Nixon.

1145 CVR 25 var image1869 3c Large Queen Cover, mailed from Ottawa (Berri duplex dated JAN.30.1869) to Toronto, with red House of Commons c.d.s. plus Todd signature at bottom. The 3c Large Queen is Duckworth flaw "K" (dot in ball at foot of upper left 3). Light staining, still fine and a scarce House of Commons endorsed cover mailed outside of Parliament Session.

1152 CVR 28 image1872 12½c Large Queen Cover to Newfoundland, mailed at Locker, NS (partial broken circle) on JAN.22.1872 to Rose Blanche NF (double circle receiver dated MAR.12) through St Johns (FEB.17 double broken circle transit). The cover is franked by a 12½c blue Large Queen, tied by an oval grid cancel (the rate changed to 6c only in November of 1872). There is a slight reduction at left and light edge wear, still a desirable winter time usage to a destination which took nearly two months to arrive. Both sides scanned online. (Scan 2) (All Scans)

The cover is franked with 2x 1c and 6x 2c SQ, paying 9c postage plus 5c registration fee. Repaired tears on back ant top and reduced at left, still an attractive cover with barrister's corner card.

1160 CVR 35, 37, 39 image1874 32c Pre-UPU Small Queen Registered Cover to France, mailed from St Barnabé (Qué) on AUG.27.1874 and addressed to Bréhal, France, and traveled there on the Allan Line Polynesian, departing Québec City on AUG.29, arriving Liverpool on SEP.8, London SEP.8 (red registration ova applied), Calais SEP.9 (boxed R applied) and finally Bréhal (SEP.10). The cover is franked with 1c (x2), 3c (x6) and 6c (x2) totaling 32c which pays for the 10c per ¼ oz + 22c registry fee. These stamps are mostly all faulty, having been folded over the edges due to a lack of space on the cover. Obvious faults (mostly to the stamps), still a very rare cover, being the only reported Small Queen cover paying the 32c registered rate, and one of only four pre-UPU registered covers to a foreign destination other than the US and the UK. 1161 CVR 35, 37iii image1875 Double Rate Pre-UPU Small Queen Cover to England, mailed from Toronto on AUG.15.1875 to London, England with two different AUG.31 receivers on back (one in red) plus a double circle AUG.1 datestamp on front, enclosing a number 1 and a manuscript "4" British accountancy mark. The cover is franked with a 1c and block of five 3c SQ (all perf 11½ x 12, two of the 3c apparently with minor re-entries) paying the double weight rate of 8c per ½oz (including the 2c US transit fee), endorsed "via New York Cunard Line". Large mourning cover with small tears and repairs, fine.
