1123 CVR 4d image3d Beaver Imperforate on a Mourning Cover, mailed from Peterboro on DEC.13.1856 to Port Sarnia, with DEC.17 receiver on back. Franking is what appears to be a thin paper 3d red Beaver imperforate, with large to huge margins (small crease in left margin), tied by a target cancel to this small Lady's mourning cover with curved black backflap and black wax seal, small opening tear at right, still very fine. The cover is franked with a 6d Consort imperforate with three margins (large at left, showing next stamp), cut into outer frameline at right, tied by a 4-ring #21. Also a PAID handstamp and circled 10, both in red. Couple of light file folds (away from stamp), fine-very fine.

1129 CVR 14, 15 imageTwo "First Cents" Issue Covers with Grid 16 Cancels from Hamilton, first is a large folded "Return of Marriages" for the year 1865, listing seven names and details of people who got married in that year (all aged between 21 and 28 for the men and 18 to 25 for the brides), franked with a 1c Queen Victoria, tied by a #16 in circular grid from Hamilton (no datestamp, with much separation in the folds). 1132 CVR 16 image10c black brown Consort on Cover, mailed at Montreal on JUL.29.1859 to Massachusetts, this cover is franked with a 10c black brown Consort perforated 11½ all around, from the first printing. The stamp is well tied by a few strikes of the Montreal 4-ring numeral cancel. Closed tears on back and light soiling in places, still a desirable and fine cover. 1135 CVR 18 image12½c yellow green Queen Victoria on Folded Cover, mailed from Toronto on DEC.3.1863 (broken circle free strike) to Glasgow, Scotland, with Glasgow Packet Paid receiver dated DEC.20, having been carried on the Allan Line America. The stamp has lovely bright colour and is tied by a Toronto square grid to this blue folded cover. A pristine example of the 12½c Canadian packet rate, extremely fine.

1137 CVR 19 image17c blue Cartier on Cover, mailed from Kingston on APR.17.1865 (broken circle free strike) to Taunton, England, with MAY.1 receiver on back). The stamp is of a very dark shade (printing order 8) and well tied by a neat large circular grid to this lovely blue cover, endorsed "per Cunard boat", thus carried by the Cunard Line China on its 18th trip. A lovely example of this scarce rate and franking, very fine.
