The "Bedford" Collection Part I: United States and Canada - April 12-13, 2021

The "Bedford" Collection is one of the most exciting properties we have handled at H.R. Harmer in quite some time. This first catalogue, focusing on the United States and Canada, is a small fraction of what is to come in the next year (this fall we will be offering the second part of the "Bedford” Collection, Great Britain and Commonwealth). In many cases, while assembling this collection, a special emphasis was put on centering, multiples, and plate proofs. From high-denomination classics to modern errors, the “Bedford” Collection includes stamps to fit into very nearly every collection. A few particular highlights include:
  • A beautiful block of four of the 1895 $5 imperforate plate proof (Lot 1107)
  • Original gum block of four of the 1872 90c (Lot 1201)
  • 1934 10c Canadian Airways Limited Inverted surcharge block of four, rare with only 100 error stamps printed (Lot 1788)
