Stanley Gibbons Sale - 5928

The Indica Collection of India Telegraphs - September 28, 2021

An exciting opportunity arises on the 28th of September for philatelists who collect India. The ‘Indica’ collection of Telegraphs represents a lifetime's work, with a wealth of unique essays, proofs and archive material that has never appeared on the open market, alongside the most complete collection of mint and used telegraph issues ever formed.

Much of the material was purchased in the 1960s directly from Robson Lowe, who handled the disposal of the De La Rue archive, meaning the auction represents the first time this wonderful material, and even some highly important early correspondence will appear on the market for the first time.

The highlight and cover star is the iconic set of first issue Electric Telegraphs in mint condition, one of only a handful recorded, a true showpiece of Indian philately, and runs all the way through to modern Telegraphic usages, with every rarity (both listed and unlisted!) represented within the collection. An opportunity not to be missed!
