N.S. Double Circle on folded Cover to Halifax, mailed on JUL.31.1826 (very fine strike of this double circle in black, Jephcott 45, MacDonald 46), rated manuscript 9 (+1d local delivery fee = 10). A very fine strike of this scarce postmark, ex
"Dubois" (Siegel, lot 2233, where it was described as "wonderful strike") and "Maritimus".

Incoming Folded Ship Letter to Cornwall, a long personal letter mailed from Inverness, Scotland on JUN.19.1829 (datestamp in black on front) to Cornwall, Upper Canada. Travelled from Liverpool to New York on the Blue Swallowtail line "York" (June
24 to Aug 8). Received a rare (first we have seen) boxed "American Postage / Ferriage / Forwarded" handstamp (with rates next to these), arrived Niagara on AUG.22.1829, then presumably onto Cornwall. Several interesting rate markings, a very fine
example of early Trans-Atlantic mail.

1837 Montréal Folded
Letter to London, England, mailed on AUG.12.1837 (double-circle in red) to London, endorsed "via New York p. packet 16th Aug." with two different SEP.8 receivers (in red) and a boxed "Liverpool Ship Letter" in black. There are many rate and
accountancy notes, including two red 'PAID" handstamps, a red "G.P." handstamp, manuscript notes include "single sheet only" (even thought the long letter inside is 8 pages long), "paid to New York", "4½", "18/4" and more. Very fine and the letter
inside is likely to be a good read. (Scan 1)

in 1854), and is recorded used for 5 years only, this being the latest recorded date. Very fine.
