Marines and Fisheries envelope mailed from St John’s East on JAN.14.1909 (faint despatch, with date verified by the boxed “Deputy Minister” datestamp) to Open Hall, Bonavista Bay (JAN.17.1903 broken circle receiver). This registered cover could be sent free, and thus is franked with a 3c orange Queen Alexandra stamp, paying the registration fee only. The back shows an interesting S.D.
