Prince George" in purple, ("R.O.P." being an error for "R.P.O.") dated AUG.8.1913 on a postcard addressed to Vancouver BC, where it was received on AUG.9.1913 (machine cancel ties 1c Admiral stamp). The photo side shows a lovely aerial view of Prince Rupert, and the message reads "This is a view of part of the main business section. 206 PC   image1912 Picture Postcard Mailed on Board the Princess Sophia, written in Alert Bay (datelined JUL.28.1912) with a partial octagonal "Canadian Pacific / Princess Sophia" postmark in blue overtop the 1c Admiral stamp. The card is addressed to Victoria BC and entered the mails in Vancouver on July 29 (slogan machine cancel ties the stamp). 207 CVR   image1909 Cover Mailed on Board a Ship in Halifax, cover entered the mails in Halifax, Nova Scotia on MAR.26.1909 and is addressed to Newcastle-on-Tyne, England (APR.3.1909 receiver). It is franked with a 1p King Edward VII, canceled on board with a very fine cursive “Paquebot.” handstamp. 208 CVR/PC   image1915-1917 World War II Prisoner of War Burton Correspondence, comprising of about 50 items (POW cards, letters, covers and covers with letters inside). Most of the mail mailed to Drummer Arthur F. Burton are addressed to 106119 1st Battalion . Canadian Mounted Rifles / No. 10604 Coy II, Barrack 21 B, Gruppe III, Dulmer's, Westphalia Germany (or similar). Many were mailed to or from Minnedosa or Brandon, Manitoba, and those going to him were written either by his wife, child or brother, and even friends (neighbours?). We note a good variety of censor or other military postmarks, re-sealing tapes, etc. Would make for a fascinating read or study. Pictures show only an overview. 213 PC   image1943-44 Two Medicine Hat, Alberta Prisoner of War Cards, both mailed from Camp 132 to Germany, first is a Form I.O.20 postcard mailed on SEP.30.1944 (P.O.W. / 132 c.d.s.) with a red German censor handstamp and large lettered "EXAMINED BY D.B. / ___" handstamp. Second is a Form I.O.17 letter card mailed airmail (interesting airmail handstamp, perhaps from the Camp?) on Aug.17.1943 (P.O.W. / 132 c.d.s.), franked with a 10c and 20c War issue, with "INSPECTED BY POSTAL CENSORS" handstamp in black. Both are very fine.

214 PC   image1945 Two Seebe, Alberta Prisoner of War Cards, both mailed to Germany, the first is a Form I.O.17 letter card mailed on FEB.21.1945 (P.O.W. / 130 c.d.s.) with a handstamp on back reading "REJECTED BY POSTAL CENSORS". The second is a Form I.O.20 card mailed on FEB.27.1945 (P.O.W. 130 c.d.s.) with a red camp censor handstamp, and with the addressee crossed-out with a label reading "inconnu" (unknown). 218 PC   image1941 Kananaskis, Alberta Prisoner of War Card, an acknowledgement of receipt card (Form I.O.21) for "4 parcels containing 56 National Geographic magazines" datelined JUN.19.1941 and mailed to Buffalo NY, with "EXAMINED BY CENSOR ___" handstamp and red Camp censor handstamps (front and back). Designated as Internment Camp "K" (Kananaskis) which was the earlier name for Camp 130 (name changed in October 1941), very fine. This camp, which opened in 1939 was first designated to hold civilian prisoners, but by July 1941 was converted to hold German prisoners of War. This card, dated June 1941 was sent by someone with a German-sounding name, which may prove that the July assumption was actually earlier. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans) (All Images)

219 PC   image1940 Kananaskis, Alberta Prisoner of War Card, a letter card (Form I.O.17) mailed using a Seebe / Alberta civilian c.d.s. on DEC.11.1940, with red circular Camp censor handstamp addressed to Winnipeg, Manitoba. The typewritten letter inside describes in detail the restrictions and the frequency of mail and letters in the Camp, very fine.

220 PC   image1942 Ozada, Alberta Prisoner of War Picture Postcard, a postcard depicting a Steamship leaving the Montréal harbour, mailed on board a train (WPG & M. JAW R.P.O.) on OCT.2.1942, datelined "en route". The card is addressed to a Private in Ozada, Alberta, with his address crossed-out and replaced by "Internment Camp Lethbridge Alberta". with a partial Orderly Room cancel. The card is apparently addressed to a guard of the Camp, and no postmarks are known from the Ozada Camp. Very fine.
