There is a New York City machine cancel on back and a MAY.5.1928 Rolling Portage receiver, as well as a JUN.6.1928 Gold Pines postmark on front. 191 CVR   image1912 Gitwangak BC Split Ring Cancel Cover, posted JUL.25.1912 to Duncan's Station (JUL.31 receiver on back), redirected to Ucluelet, West Coast of Vancouver Island (backstamp) via Victoria. While the proof strike of Gitwangak was recorded in the Post Office archives (OCT.23.1909), it was previously speculated that the Gitwangak postmark had the "k" filed off the end to produce a "Gitwanga" postmark. The only known strike of this Northern BC town, previously unreported until 2020 when it was discovered as part of the Gerald Wellburn collection previously unseen by collectors. Neatly mounted on a Wellburn page, with accompanying real photo postcard of "Indian Grave Hazelton B.C.". (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (All Scans) (All Images)
