Australian States: New South Wales: Officials: 1889 5s. deep purple overprinted “OS” in red used, the earliest dated example (3 Apr. 1889) some ten months before S.G. listed date. Rare, of which only 100 were
overprinted with a dozen used examples recorded. S.G. O47, cat. £800. R.P.S. certificate (2014). Note: Hutson (1960) notes the stamp was issued in April 1889 and it is therefore very unlikely an earlier used example exists. (Image1)
