Letter sent (4.6.1913) from Montevideo to Portugal, franked with 8 cents in Uruguayan stamps, which, as
it was insufficient due to its excess weight (+ 15 grams), was marked T by the sending post, as it should have been franked with an additional 4 cents (according to the table of the time, 5 French cents = 100 reis = 10 cents, so the missing 4 cents =
the old 40 reis / current 4 centavos). In the Lisbon post office through which it passed, double the missing value of 0.80 was handwritten, which was applied to the destination post office, in Paredes de Coura, the stamps of Postal Due / 80 reis = 8
centavos / with REPUBLICA surcharge, which was paid by the recipient.(Image 1)

Letter indicated as being from the SR (Republican Service) and stamped Portuguese Notary/Lisbon, sent
on (23.12.1935) to the Head of the Sintra Finance Department, and therefore exempt from postage. The original postage is handwritten on the back, stating that "in the table of authorized authorities, correspondence with the notices may be requested,
especially with the finance departments", and therefore received the postmark (I) and (11) of the distribution area. It arrives at its destination on the same day, where distributor 62 indicates the value of double the postage to be paid T 80 and
applies 80 cents in POSTAGE stamps, which the Vestinatdrio will receive - Costa - so the letter is forwarded free of charge to the post office of origin, which applies a new stamp of $0.80, and returns it to the sender to be paid, marking the
distribution zone with a stamp (11).(Image 1)

Letter deposited in the post office without a stamp, given that it was indicated as being from the SNR
(National Service of the Republic) as it was addressed to the Civil Governor of the District of Castelo Branco. As it was not considered an official service letter, it was not exempt from franking, so the post office applied (T) and sent it
(17.8.1928) by rail in the Beira Baixa II mobile postal ambulance. The value of 80 cents in postage stamps was applied to the destination mail (double the missing rate). The steps taken by the postman for its delivery were handwritten: "The addressee
has not left any notice. Candelas" - re:z on 19 August 1928. Candelas".(Image 1)

Portugal. Postage due. Letter dispatched from London, postage of 2 1/2d, postage due for insufficient
postage, in 4$20, in postage due stamps on September 6, 1934, which the recipient did not want to pay, so it was returned to the sender in London, with 10d unpaid. This circumstance led someone at the post office to write with a blue pencil: “Please
see more care is exercised."(Image 1)
