Essex Stamp Auctions Sale - 51

Worldwide Public Auction - September 30, 2018

Welcome to our 51st sale which includes the special ‘Albion’ collection of Great Britain. This collection was formed over the last 40 years by a collector who used to buy large lots in many auctions across the world. By taking only the best and most interesting items for himself and selling the rest, he formed a large collection over the decades.

There are literally hundreds of 1840 penny blacks and twopenny blues, dozens of Pound high values and hundreds of postal history items including a 1929 PUC £1 on cover, a transatlantic steamer mail correspondence from Argentina, the Queen Victoria 1873 2½d rosy mauve Error of Lettering both on and off cover, interesting Irish and Scottish postal history and much more.

A large part of the collection has not been on the market for 30 years or more, so if you collect or deal in Great Britain we certainly recommend you make time to view as there will undoubtedly be gems here. The entire ‘Albion’ collection will be available for viewing at Stampex. See below for details.

There is also a good Great Britain section in the World part of the catalogue with plenty of collections, decimal lots at under face value, singles including a nice mint £1 Seahorse, unusual postal history and telegram material and much more. Amongst the British Commonwealth is a collection in a New Ideal catalogued over £100,000 with plenty of nuggets to be extracted. Also a fine collection in 8 boxed albums and other good mixed lots with plenty of high values.

If, as I do, you like Classic issues, there are good lots of Cape of Good Hope Triangulars with pairs and multiples, Mauritius Primitives including some early Post Paid and the first issues of Brazil, the famous Bull’s Eyes.

We have received a number of estates and large one country lots over the summer and many of these are offered untouched as received. We know you all like big collections and multiple box lots and there are plenty of interesting boxes to examine. This is certainly one of the bulkiest sales we have had for some time and we have ‘must sell’ instructions on many of the bulky lots, so bring your estate cars and vans to the sale.
