1078   image16 JAN. 1916 ACTIVE SERVICE COVER WITH INTERESTING CONTENTS: Mailed from Duala to Hounslow on 23 Jan. 1923 (11 days after writing). Contents mention capture of Jaunde (one of the last towns to fall to the Allies) "We have not yet finished altho' Jaunde is now in our possession. Our column and my own company were the first into the Fort, but the Germans had bolted, clearing out all the native population. They have gone in the direction of Spanish Guinea and unless intercepted they may escape us...." Cover signed by Lt. Tebbutt. (Image)
