VALENTINE DUNDEE/Johnstone & Hunter Edinr & London (25 Adhesive or 30 Plain sent free for 12 Penny Post Stamps) Ackermann & Co London", the type face on example with 'olive branch' seal being thinner than on other copies; State 2 with plain seal very
similar to other State 2 examples but with no embossing on flap; State 6 printed on grey paper with League of Brotherhood Embossed Clasped Hands seal and inscriptions "Johnstone & Hunter Edinr/Hudson Scott, Carlisle" at left, "ENGRAVED & PUBLISHED BY

bearing 1841 1d red plate 39 OA (shaved in places) with a very fine black MX cancellation. The red seal on reverse is of "THE NATIONAL CORN LAW LEAGUE". Fine. Note: the contents comprise a letter from Richard Cobden who was a radical liberal M.O.P.
