 PLATE 1a PC - RARE 8th MAY 1840 USAGE: A four margined 1d plate 1a PC used on EL from London to Ludlow, tied by a good red MX and
margins. The EL clearly dated 8 May 1840 across join on reverse. The cover and contents are a little soiled by water but the cds is clear. Usual horizontal fold at foot well clear of the adhesive. A very scarce early date. SG £9,000. (Image)

bearing 1840 1d plate 1b strip of six LG-LL tied by red MX cancellations. LH with clear re-entry. Close to good margins, LG & LJ with clear profiles. LE with central tear caused by MX. The strip appears to have strengthened on reverse. LG & LK with
